Viride Quartet wins the Kersjesprijs 2026
It is with great pleasure and gratitude that we can share that we have been awarded the Kersjes Prize 2026 by Het Kersjes Fonds. It is a great honor to receive this special recognition. Our gratitute goes to Het Kersjes Fonds for their support and belief in us.
Het Kersjes Fonds, one of the Netherlands' largest private funding bodies for music, is awarding the 2026 Kersjes Prize to the Viride Quartet. The prize consists of a cash award of €50,000. The laureates may spend the awarded funds within three years on talent development and everything necessary for a budding career. The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday evening, November 25, at De Duif in Amsterdam.
The official statement of motivation from The Kersjes Fund:
The Viride Quartet has a remarkable origin: at the ages of 14 and 15, the members discovered together the richness of the string quartet repertoire and what it takes to continue together. In 2018, shortly after their formation, the quartet received an encouragement grant from the Kersjes Fund. Now, nine years later, they are a remarkably cohesive ensemble. That early start has clearly paid off; the quartet excels in beautiful balance and sublime interplay. With their intense, passionate playing, the Viride Quartet manages to captivate the audience and effortlessly sweep them along in their musical story.
