Sedna Heitman

Viola

Sedna Heitzman (2000) is a passionate musician with a background in both violin and viola. Active in chamber music, orchestras, and a wide variety of collaborations, she is constantly seeking ways to inspire and connect through her playing.

Sedna earned a bachelor’s degree in violin from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, studying under Ilona Sie Dhian Ho. Sedna continued her studies at the

Amsterdam Conservatory, where she earned her master’s degree in viola under Marjolein Dispa and Nobuko Imai.

In addition to the Viride Quartet, Sedna is also actively seeking further collaborations and projects as a (chamber) musician. For example, she is principal violist of the Kamerata Zuid string orchestra and in the whole year of 2023 she served as a substitute second violinist for the Matangi Quartet. She also works as a substitute musician in orchestras such as the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and Amsterdam Sinfonietta.

Sedna has competed in competitions such as the Dutch Violin Competition (Davina

van Wely category), where she won the prize for the best performance of the commissioned composition. In 2021, she won first prize at the National Viola Competition as well as the prize for the best performance of a Telemann fantasy.

Sedna plays a violin built in 2015 by Wolfram Neureither and a viola built by the same luthier in 2018.
